Information on the Accessible Elevator

About the Accessible Elevator

Shimbara Ferry operates two vessels. Of these, only one—“Ferry Amakusa II”—is equipped with an accessible elevator.
“Ferry Kuchinotsu” does not have an elevator installed.
As a general guideline, the elevator can accommodate one wheelchair user and up to two accompanying caregivers at a time.

About Use

・Use of the accessible elevator is limited to passengers who use a wheelchair or elderly passengers with limited mobility.
・If you wish to use the accessible elevator, please contact the respective port in advance to confirm the operating schedule of Ferry Amakusa II.
Kuchinotsu Port: (0957)86-2165
Oniike Port: (0969)32-1727
・Passengers who wish to use the accessible elevator are requested to inform the ticket counter staff at the time of purchasing their boarding ticket. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate your request if prior notice is not given, if you arrive at the port after vehicle loading has begun, or during peak periods when the vessel is crowded.

Safety Precautions

* The elevator cannot be used while the vessel is underway for safety and accident prevention reasons.
* After the vessel arrives at the port, the elevator may not be used until the indicator sign at the elevator entrance changes from “Out of Service” to “In Operation.”
* Do not press the control buttons unnecessarily during the voyage, as this may cause a malfunction.
* While using the elevator, please do not behave violently inside the cabin or touch the ceiling, as this may trigger an emergency stop.
